After completing an honours degree in Accounting and Finance, Chris trained as a Chartered Accountant at a large independent firm in central Leeds. Whilst undertaking professional qualifications, Chris obtained a large amount of experience auditing small and medium sized private companies, large public limited companies and a variety of well-known charities.
After making the decision in 2002 to relocate back to the South West, Chris has continued to utilise his corporate and business services experience, and working alongside the team at Andrews and Palmer is responsible for the day-to-day management, direction, development and regulatory affairs of the practice.
Chris proactively advises a diverse range of businesses, entrepreneurs, individuals and charities on taxation, business development and compliance matters and is also the firm's senior statutory auditor.
Phil Bevis - FCA FCCA

With over 30 years in practice and 20 years as a partner/director at Andrews and Palmer, Phil has an extensive knowledge of dealing with a diverse range of clients and their personal affairs, with key experience in farming, construction, manufacturing, retail and the leisure industry, etc.
Working primarily with owner managed businesses, entrepreneurs and individuals, Phil provides a diverse range of advice from general compliance, taxation, strategic business and family succession planning, acquisitions and disposals, and provides effective solutions and advice to a variety of client problems.
In the past Phil has held a number of positions including being a Director and co-founder of Dorset Tourism Association CIC, Vice Chair of Shaftesbury and District Tourism Association, Chair of Gillingham Town team, a Business Link Start-up mentor and Chairman of Judges for Dorset Young Enterprise.

Craig Hacker – BA ACA FCCA
After completing my Degree in Accounting and Finance, and working as a Temporary Employee at JP Morgan at Bournemouth, I trained under a training contract with a small practice in East Dorset. I remained there for seven years before returning to a practice closer to home and a fresh challenge.
I have been at Andrews and Palmer since August 2010 having started as an Accounts Senior and have progressed to Senior Manager. I have a significant interest in owner managed businesses and enjoy trying to help them resolve any issues they come across and helping the businesses grow and plan for the future. From February 2013 until August 2020, I was Honorary Treasurer of Shaftesbury & District Chamber of Commerce. Outside of work I enjoy cycling, walking and spending time with my young family.
Chris Thorpe LLB(Hons) ATT CTA(Fellow) TEP
Chris originally qualified as a barrister after completing his LLB but never practised; after a short stint as a school teacher he qualified ATT and CTA at Grant Thornton in the East Midlands before relocating back to his native West Country. He qualified as a full member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners in 2014 and CTA Fellow in 2015. After working in professional practice, as a cpd lecturer and as a technical officer at the CIOT, Chris joined Andrews & Palmer in October 2025 as Tax Director.
Chris specialises in private client and personal tax matters including: succession planning, business/asset disposals, inheritance tax planning and all matters concerning UK trust and estates; he also has extensive experience with owner-managed businesses and partnerships, with a particular interest in the agricultural sector. He has also made a personal study of implied trusts and beneficial ownership within UK tax, publishing one book and several peer-reviewed articles in academic journals.
